Geodysseo's objectives

Geodysseo is a global adventure on two wheels and a humanitarian challenge with the purpose of exploring our planet while bringing smiles to the faces of children around the world.

The project has three objectives:

1   Orbiting Earth on a motorcycle

Geodysseo's backbone is a one-year motorcycle world tour, solo, across four continents starting April 2004. It constitutes an incredible challenge crossing a variety of terrains and borders, surviving the elements and mechanical breakdowns, but also a unique chance to meet faraway peoples and cultures, and the beauty of our planet, to be regularly presented on this website.

2   Bringing support to children around the world with Plan International

In the age of globalization many are left out. There are, however, things that can be done to help those who are in need and who hold the future of our planet. The Geodysseo project wants to make a difference in this area with the help of Plan International – one of the largest international child-centered humanitarian organization with assistance programs in countries all around the globe. With the support of donations from caring people from all over the world, Geodysseo and Plan wants to bring assistance to children and their communities in Senegal, Mali, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. A true race against time as the world tour goes, fundraising goals for each community have to be met before Frederic Journoud reaches himself the communities in Africa and South America during his world tour. The fundraising program and the specific humanitarian projects are coordinated by Plan globally and locally. Accurate and regular monitoring of this humanitarian and fundraising program are reported on this website. [Learn More]

3   Sharing the experience by recording the first "Round-the-World Road Movie"

Imagine an entire movie featuring the beautiful landscapes of our world captured from the motorcycle's on-board camera at the rate of one picture every minute. That's more than 200,000 frames that are assembled on an on-going basis into a series of accelerated QuickTime movies viewable on this site as the world tour goes. The online viewers will have the opportunity to be part of the journey for a full year from the comfort of home. Eventually, the entire RoadMovie will  become a unique testimony of the beauty and size of our planet at the dawn of the 21st century, available for generations to come. [View Movie Samples]
